Here we have decided to give you an immediate decision to make, to choose from one of two workshops, in saying that you are more than welcome to join us on both as each one provides you with totally different species and opportunities.
As it says this is a one day workshop and will be held on a reserve off the "North West" coast. It has already been arranged and agreed with the rangers that we will be given exclusive early morning access to the reserve therefore providing us with many great and unusual opportunities as well as gaining the early morning light. The reserve has a perimiter of approximately 4 miles and is of a quite rough terraine, hilly and sandy dunes and tussac grasses and pebbles. This provides many different types of photographic opportunities, approximately 20 types of sea birds, chicks, Butterflies, and flora & fauna, maybe including some orchids. Dotted around the island there is also a selection of hides with viewing slots large enough to accept the majority of lens's. There will be no time limit on this reserve.
This workshop is held on one of Europes largest sea bird colonies which is located in the "North Sea" and offers a very range of species from the at found in our one day "Sea Bird" workshop. The accommodation is not on the island, but on shore, and there is a great variety to choose from. We will be providing some suggested venues. On this workshop even if the weather turns a little agressive, perhaps with rain or fog, the photo opportunities can be awesome. The venue offers in excess of 20 birds as well as some fantastice opportunities for lichens, flora & fauna and seascapes. It may also be possible to book on this workshop for one day only. Please ask for details.
The first and most important items you must consider for this workshop, is not your camera gear, but your clothing. You will need some very warm layers and waterproofs and a good pair of sturdy shoes or boots. You will be working immediately next to the "Irish Sea" and be in direct line to receive the full west winds.
Your camera gear can range from a compact camera to the very latest in SLRs or D-SLRs with an assortment of Lens's from wide angle to telephoto and including macro. Oh yes don't forget plenty of Memory Cards or Films. Extra gear you may wish to consider may include: - Tripod, a bean bag, and a Flash gun, etc. Ensure that all your gear (except your tripod and bean bag) can be housed in a waterproof camera bag just in case the weather suddenly changes for the worst.
It is always our recommendation that when attending one of our workshops of this type, that you bring what ever equipment you have or feel that you may need, including a laptop if you so wish. Also a multi-way socket block can be very handy. 240V electricty supplies are available in the cottages.
This workshop is principally of a "hands on" nature, however I will be available throughout the whole weekend to provide one to one tuition, advice, and tips and a little instruction concerning the welfare of the seals and your safety.
Please note that none of our course or workshop fees include that of meals, addmission charges and travelling costs (if applicable) and are subject to the terms of trade as laid down by Fotographic Images. Theft, accidental damage and public liability insurance is the responsability of each individual client.
